At Ivanhoe we use a biometric cashless dining room system. This is a technology that has been used successfully by many schools and at Ivanhoe since June 2016. We have researched a number of different service providers, and are delighted to have invested in our new Biostore FasTrak system which we believe will improve the services we are able to offer students and staff significantly, with benefits including:
Ivanhoe will comply at all times with the Data Protection Act and with the guidance given by the Information Commissioner’s Office regarding the use of biometric data. Fingerprint images are not be stored by the system but instead, a set of measured finger coordinates are translated into a string of numbers and encrypted. The encryption method used by the system is a high level, industry standard method. The data held cannot be used to recreate a fingerprint image, nor could it be used in a forensic investigation.
If there are any concerns regarding this system, in particular regarding use of biometrics, you can download the Biostore FAQ's below which has details of commonly asked questions and answers to provide more information. If you would like more information or the chance to discuss this further, please feel free to contact Laura Tickle in the first instance. l.tickle@ivanhoe.co.uk
