World Book Day and the associated initiatives were a great success. You can see some of our fantastic book character potatoes and the book swap saw record numbers of books exchanged amongst the student base. On Friday we'll be holding our very first student book club.
It is so heartening to see the student base so engaged in reading at Ivanhoe when the National picture is pretty grim - thank you for all of the support in making Ivanhoe a 'Reading School'!
We are now entering the final stretch of our Reading Tree Challenge, with just three school weeks left in
the competition...
At the moment, Fire House is in the lead — but there is still plenty of time for every house to make a comeback. First, second and thirds are all very close to one another...it's all still to play for!
Please remember, reading is one of the most powerful habits our students can develop. It strengthens vocabulary, improves focus, builds imagination and supports success across every subject. As teachers, we are encouraging all pupils to read regularly, not only to earn points for their house, but to nurture a skill that will benefit them for life.
We look forward to seeing which house will rise to the challenge as we approach the finish line.
The Breakfast Book Club was a great success; all students came and read their free book totally enrapt. They had some hot chocolate, toast, and fruit. It was a lovely atmosphere.
