Year 9 Dance

Dear Parents and Carers

Change to timings and arrangements - Year 9 Dance, Wednesday 11^th July 2018

Due to the scheduling of the England vs Croatia World Cup football match on Wednesday evening, we have been in communication with the local police and NWL District Council to agree some changes to the Year 9 Dance to ensure students’ safety throughout the evening.

As for previous England matches recently, Market Street in Ashby is expected to be closed early evening, so please consider the route at the beginning and end of the dance. There is a police management plan in place for the area so it is important that we put some additional measures in place to ensure that the Year 9 Dance can go ahead safely.

Therefore we have made the decision to change the time of the Year 9 Dance to 6pm - 8pm and we will require a named adult to collect each student from the gates next to the main reception at the end of the event.

As Ashby will be very busy on this evening we strongly encourage students and parents to arrive on foot where possible to avoid delays getting into the building.

We recognise that this change will inevitably present difficulties to many of you who have arranged transport and appointments on this day, however we need to ensure everyone’s safety and that the event can go ahead smoothly.

I apologise for all the inconvenience this will cause and hope that our Year 9 students will, nevertheless, have a fantastic evening.

Please complete the slip below to confirm your receipt of this information and provide the details of the person who will collect your son or daughter from the school at 8pm on Wednesday.

Your son or daughter should present this reply slip on Wednesday morning when they collect their dance ticket. If we do not have information about who will collect them unfortunately we will not be able to issue the ticket so please make sure that they come with the reply slip. Alternatively you can email year9dance@ivanhoe.co.uk  before Wednesday with the details of the person who will collect, clearly giving your child’s name and form in the email.
