Citizens UK - Community Organising

We continue our partnership with Citizens UK as we strive to give our Young People a strong voice in the world.

Our Stephen Lawrence ambassadors continue to work with other schools and organisations to tackle Racial Injustice within Education, and our local focus group will be working in the North West Leicestershire area to help identify and establish more activities for young people in the area.

Citizens UK General Election Manifesto Launch on 20^th September: This is an event in school where we show our support for the 7 manifesto items on the agenda as we approach the next election.  These are the 7 areas where Citizens UK and students at Ivanhoe intend to hold all parties to account in order to bring about real change in schools and our communities:

The manifesto agenda – the big 7:

1. Climate Justice
2. Mental Health -  in schools and beyond
3. Racial Justice
4. Migrant Justice
5. Housing and homelessness
6. Living Wage 
7. Democracy and Devolution                                                                                                                                                                       

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Here at Ivanhoe, we intend to do a series of assemblies over the week raising awareness of the issues.  I am sure that our students will be more than happy to call politicians to account under these 7 key headings. Young people’s voices can be very powerful. Go Ivanhoe!
